KRAMPUS
technology for the future

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.

Krampus Mk1 concept

The KRAMPUS all terrain vehicle is a hybrid electric special purpose vehicle for security, defense or industrial needs.

KRAMPUS is powered by a high voltage battery and a diesel generator. Batteries can also be charged externally, using a CCS Type 2 charging inlet. Two electric motors provide the vehicle with 60 kW power and allow it to travel 1,000 km when the diesel generator is used. The velocity of the vehicle is limited to 120 km/h. The KRAMPUS all terrain vehicle was developed on a modular frame that allows for separating the frame, driveline, battery pack and diesel generator for faster replacement in field conditions.

The project is partially funded by the European Regional Development Fund under the measure “Experiment”:
Funding for development of an innovative autonomous vehicle

Advanced algorithms

Application of new control algorithms to improve the performance and durability of the powercell.

Features

The vehicle is powered by two electric motors mounted on the front and rear axles. The motors are powered by a high voltage (~ 650 VDC) battery via a DC / DC converter, which maintains a constant current for the electric motors. The batteries are charged from the AC network and by an electric generator driven by a diesel internal combustion engine. The capacity of the fuel tank and the electric battery allow a distance of about 1000 km.

The vehicle operates in three modes: regular, remote or autonomous. Remote control mode allows it to operate in a direct line of sight for a maximum distance of 1 km. In autonomous control mode, the vehicle can follow a vehicle or person moving in front of it, as well as follow the route responding to obstacles on the road. Particular attention is paid to the vehicle’s ability to drive in harsh environments.

The main component that connects the entire system is an intelligent drive control system. Its reliable operation guarantees the quality of the final product. Our main focus is on the optimal control of the entire system, the main subsystems of which are an internal combustion engine, a generator, electric motors, and the battery block.

The design of the vehicle platform is compatible with additional equipment. It can supply power to auxiliary equipment, including electro-optics, radiation and chemical pollution measurement equipment, sensors, video or thermal cameras, etc.

A series hybrid electric drivetrain guarantees better traction control in harsh environments.

The vehicle has a low thermal signature due to its cooling system. The battery monitoring system includes a specially designed temperature control subsystem.

The vehicle’s platform is hybrid in order to increase range but also allow movement in “silent mode” when necessary (for example, for bird-watching, hunting, monitoring the state border, nature protection, etc.).

The vehicle’s transmission is environmentally friendly with a low noise level and the ability to travel longer distances with a lower CO2 footprint.

Stages of technology development

 Hybrid Electric Vehicle

In the first project development stage, our team will combine all hybrid drive components into a specially designed frame for an alpha prototype.

Remotely operated Platform

Further technological development includes the implementation of remote control and multifunctional platform solutions.

Autonomous robotic Vehicle

After continuous testing and improvement, we will create an autonomous robotic vehicle for special applications.
